Creating a studio lighting feel is easy with the right tools

There is something especially cool about photos with great lighting. It can open up a photo and reveal things to an audience or it can leave an air of mystery surrounding your shot. Light is something that should be utilized to the greatest advantage in photography and especially in portraits.

I was able to shoot with a couple of speed lights with filters on them for this project. In a couple of photos I used just those lights and in a few, a fog machine for dramatic effect. I was shooting at 1/200 at f/4.5 with an ISO of 400. But I also used a speed light in front of my subject too. This effect got rid of a lot of the mystery to the photo and added a playful effect to the colorful portrait.

Let me know what you think!
