My swimming fish cinema-graph…
…is the most difficult project I’ve done to date. And that is mostly my own fault. When creating a cinema-graph it’s really important that you don’t have two moving things right next to each other. Apparently I just could not get that through my head. I started out with a simple head turn and wink at the camera by my handsome fiance, but the lighting wasn’t great when I looked at it on my computer. So I decided to try something different and used some frequent models of mine, my swimming fish.
First, I loaded the video as frames into Photoshop. Using the timeline window I decided which frame I wanted as my main photo and grouped all of the others together. I put a layer mask on the group and painted in the part of just one moving fish. After that I played it and after having a twenty minute long battle trying to perfect it, I let it have it’s way and exported it as a GIF. I definitely want to attempt this project again -not with swimming fish- with a more interesting subject and a better quality device.
But, here’s what I’ve got for starters. Enjoy!
